Hello, everyone! Shaun and I have just returned from another relaxing weekend away at our new favourite camp spot at Depot Beach in the Murramarang National Park. We met up with our friends Cam and Gen and had a lovely little weekend away. I have become a bit obsessed with what I like to call 'rock-pooling' - which is basically just me spending countless hours exploring the beautiful rock pools by the sea. I'm just amazed at the beauty and colour that such tiny little sea creatures can bring. Needless to say, much of my time was spent was spent this way over the weekend..... and my pictures will back that up!
Also, I have a bit of a funny/scary story to tell. So, on the first night we were there, something a bit crazy happened. When we all went to sleep, I was soon awakened by loud rustling noises right outside the tent. I was a bit sleepy/confused at first, and tried shining my torch out from the tent to see what was going on. All I could really see was the large tail of a kangaroo right in front of the tent. I started to try to wake up Shaun to tell him what was happening, while at the same time trying to make noises to scare away the roos. I am sitting right at the zip opening of the tent as this is happening, and then, all I know is that one of the kangaroos has gotten a bit spooked and has tried to jump straight into our tent, consequently landing right on my face, ripping a large hole in our tent and giving quite a fright. I'm lucky I didn't get a wicked scratch to the face! I screamed, which scared the roo again and then he went bounding through out site, knocking down our table and chairs and all sorts of other stuff. Shaun has finally woken up now and figured out what was going on and went outside to investigate. And there, just chilling, are the two culprits - two rather large kangaroos, looking seemingly unbothered by the havoc they have just created. Shaun is shining a torch on them and stomping and telling them to go away, and it take ages for them to finally get the hint. I was so annoyed by that point! And, I didn't really have a peaceful night of sleep afterwards, as I spent most of the night dreaming about kangaroos jumping on my face.
All that aside, the weekend was perfect, and we even stayed through until Monday evening. Camping is such a relaxing activity for us, and we can't wait til next time.
Check out my Flickr account for photos! Hope you are all doing well and I am looking forward to seeing some of you when I return to the US in April!
